Quit your crown addiction here at Earl's Rehab Clinic

I just wrote a thread 'bout this. Rule #1 of being a Raider is make sure resources flow one-way. The tribute keep opens up a hole through which resource-robbing becomes a two-way street.

Don't see the relevance with crown rehab. I am willing to stop hunting for crowns and dropping my crowns. I will however NEVER willingly lose a battle. The only difference now is that if I lose, the crown loss stress is no more. I am dropping my crowns but I have all intentions of keeping my win ratio between 91-96%

When it comes to resource hunting I learned a long time ago that you will get far better looting results by always aiming for a minimum 2 star win or burn down the place to a 3 star win than my poaching a little here and there. By always aiming for 2-3 stars you'll find your storage maxed out most of the time...

The army I'm preparing is 4 siege towers, 24 redcoats, 6 Muscovites, and 6 teutonics. With Richard+Sviatoslav. Completely silly, but I'm in this to have some fun.

Looking forward to those results!

You people are making crowns and doing business sound waaaay more ominous than it is. IT'S A FREAKIN' GAME. If you have a strong addiction to it, seek help. This is not a hotline for gameoholics or crownoholics.

No, no, no Mr. Recycle. The main goal of the game is to make profit for SGI/Microsoft.

They accomplish this by making you believe crowns are your goal.

Remember that little rush you got when you first hit 500 crowns?,,,,then 1000?....yeah....you felt top of the world. But then they make it harder for you to get your crowns. Then they take away more crowns than they give. With each step you give more of your lifeblood to crowns and get less of a high. Soon you reach that point where you play all day just to maintain your crown high. Hit a replay...time for a 7 minute ^^^^ shower and shave before greyout....don't wanna lose more crowns! Dot cook real food anymore....3 minute microwave Burrito....cant hit greyout and lose crowns.

Then you start buying Martel to maintain.

Now you are an addict. You look around.....your wife has gone...your kids have grown up....you're broke and destitute.

You need Earls Rehab Clinic.

I thought you said you weren't going to give the game away about your new alliance......

Who cares?  I can probably just use the therapy upfront..

This is not sniping. You make a beeline for the resources, do as much damage to them as possible, get 30-40%, and take the lion's share of the available loot.

Addictive personality - doesn't take much for me to be hooked on something.

I'm what you'd call well-read. You hear enough people write about tribute layouts, and you can parrot it with fluency. Also, I'm fairly adept at looking at a strategy, and figuring out as much as I can about it.

Aiming for only 30-40% and purposely lose is the exact definition of sniping in my books and most certainly isn't 'doing as much damage as possible.'

As I said before the theme in this thread is crown addiction. To stop 'nexting' for 60-90min per battle to find that elusive Duke's crown reserve because life is too short to click next for hours on end. It's about regaining life quality.

Nothing to do with needing resources.

OK, I've been playing a few battles.

It's been cathartic to watch my crowns go away, actually. I'm down to 162 and can't wait to get rid of more.

I've mostly been using silly armies. Siege towers, Sviatoslav, John Kourkouas, that sorta thing. I am currently training one of my old archergeddons with Richard + Martel, because it routinely gets 49% and a lot more res than I'm getting right now.

I'll post more updates as the situation develops.

Still getting into the swing of things, so not so hot ... good to see the crowns going away. That said, I like the Richard+Sviatoslav combo.

Conrad+ Sviatsolav

Couldn't avoid to stay away from the keep...

Yeah I know. IM WEAK!! I couldn't fight this morning...

Used the rams, red coats, green ones also!

Next up

Richard+Belisiarius(the one digs under walls)

Good day enemies!....I see the rehab thread has been resurrected.

Couple of things.

Interesting to note that that I wrote my reasons 3 months ago and nothing much has changed re super duper heroes, paying to play/win and defence.

Devs totally silent other than your standard corporate responses on these issues and though Empress claims in a separate thread that they don't comment on future game changes/problems that's really not true as I recall plenty of dev feedback and fixes on previous problems raised constantly by this board. Remember troops at the map edge...remember Frost....remember the 1st Martel fix....remember the Hermann bug....all commented upon and resolved.....I guess that don't happen anymore!....and frankly its appalling customer service! As I said originally....under the current super duper heroes system I'm sure there is income being made from those that spend to ensure battle victory!....Good luck to 'em I say!.....But there is no monies to be made from me if I don't see a future for defence in a tower defence game!

Anyways...for myself I did not succeed starting a new alliance and joined a smaller group and though I have not picked opponents based on crowns at all ....I did not manage to kick the habit of winning battles.....I hate to lose!.....so whilst I did some raiding early on I'm still a committed keep destroyer.

There have been 1 or 2  recruits for our alliance based on this thread I think!

Without paying attention to crowns it is worth noting my Age 9 keep....about 30% upgraded.....maintains 2000-2800 crowns

Nothing wrong with that LOL. Same here. Just because I'm no longer a crown hunter doesn't mean I don't want to win my battles. I'm committed in giving up crown hunting, not giving up winning [thumbup]

Good on ya for having been able to stay away from crown gathering. I've only switched off them a few days ago and watched them drop because I no longer spend hours looking for crown whales to make up for the ones being robbed in defense. I'm hoping I can stay away from day. So we need you our lead Doctor specialist to keep us all in check here ;)
