I went looking for a Haiku thread someone told me about, to no avail. But, I found these gems instead:

I reckon it's a poor attempt at free verse - people do forget that there is white space on the page to be used....

The battle chests are nice...

and have an incentive for these...

but I believe that the snowless Canadian devs,

along with the lack of midnight during real time play,

are worthless and boasting;

to add, are leaving everyone who enjoys this game

along with their lives,

are numb...

Through caverns measureless to man

down to a sunless sea.

The hysterical player in the forum thread
Screaming, he moans, "This game is dead"
Then sends out for Speler, who's typing in bed
And says, "My advice is to not let it bug you"
Now, the community sage comes and he shuffles around
He writes with a swagger and he says to the clown
"Stop all this weeping, swallow your frown
You will not die, it's not poison"
Phasma's in the factory, she ain't got no news
Robey's in the tower, he's turning the screws
I'm in the forum with the tombstone blues

Sung to:  Only the Good Die Young by Billy Joel

Come out you tributes, don't make me wait

You stand alone keeps are really quite great

Sooner or later it comes down to fate

I might as well be the one

Well they gave you a castle, you move it away

Out in a field, defense far away

A six percent loss the price that you pay

To leave it out all alone

Where have the tributes gone

You might have heard I run with a dangerous crowd

I might use Edward, I ain't too proud

I might be laughing a bit too loud

But that never hurt no one

So come on you tributes show me a sign

Leave out your keep, I'll attack you each time

I won't take much more, a one star is fine

TK's can get it done

Where have the tributes gone

You got a nice big keep and you put it in isolation

There's no walls of stone

It's just out alone

Put out a tribute and give some consideration

But you don't care for me

You only care for the crowns you keep

They say there's a tribute for those who will wait

Some say they're out there, I say they ain't

I'd rather win with a tribute than lose with a raid

Tributes are much more fun

Where have the tributes gone

And here's a couple more from me:

Martell and Conrad

Devastating when combined

Love/Hate Paradox

A brief history of walls.

Priam's Troy had awesome walls,

but they fell to a trick.

Hadrian built another wall

that still didn't keep out the Picts.

China built The Great Wall,

still, didn't stop the Mongol Horde.

And we surround our Castles with walls,

Will we never learn?

Haiku threads?  We've had several.

There are many other haikus floating around.  Here, let me google that for you.

Congrats on the Keep.

Really impressed with your siege.

Twenty six pennants.

Sad yellow units.

Laddermen remain garbage.

dariakus, please.

Yeah, English haikus are too cheaply constructed, all you need is the right number of syllables on each line and it's done. The Japanese ones, though, take time and effort. Especially with the customary Kireji, they are not so easy as they seem. But, you got some more meatier verse, so bring it on. ;):D

time for lyrics and being attacked while this issue is going on.

Every day is a moment in past.

Every heartbeat a step to my last.

do you feel the sands of time.

running low to break the line.

first we learn to fly

then we learn to cry

later in the evening we may die.

Here, I adapted your haiku's translation to the 5-7-5 model:

"Global server crash

A cruel fate to so many

Only questions left"

I've made a version of it in Portuguese as well: [smile]

"Servidor caído

Destino cruel pra tantos

restaram vidas"

(Countable syllables are underlined and stressed syllables are bold. In Portuguese poetry the syllables are counted only until the stressed one in the last word of each verse.)

ROFLMAO...  I'm with you there...  I usually try to appreciate things for what they are... Unfortunately though poetry for me pretty much ended with 'Old McDonald had a farm' [tongue][lol]

----------------------------------------------------------

"Hey diddle Rurik"

Hey diddle diddle, the cat played the fiddle

Rurik jumped over the wall

The crossbow tower laughed to see such sport

And Rurik died without 'striking' anything at all

------------------------------------------------------------

"Hickory Di.ckory Conrad Docked"

Hickory di.ckory dock

Conrads tower rode up to the wall

The clock struck twelve

The door fell down fell down

Hickory di.ckory Conrad docked

------------------------------------------------------------

"a few more than 3 Blind rams"

Ten Conrad rams, ten Conrad rams

See how they ride, see how they ride

They all run after the whales crowns

Who played 8 hours, and got in trouble with his wife

Did you ever see such a thing in your life,

as ten Conrad Rams?   [lol]

------------------------------------------------------------

Never said i was 'cultured'[tongue]  but i did pay attention in pre-school... after that .... not so much[lol]

"Apology to Flavius"

It seems so distant, yet so close it is,
the time I barely used my siege machines:
with you my friend, the greatest of the Byzs,
I would not need them, and we were like twins.

Charles, Richard, Hermann, Winrich, Edward, John:
good friends for sure, but you were just the best.
Three stars each time we scored, from dusk till dawn!
Up to Age VII, you'd win every test.

But aging up, on you I lay no blame,
you have become frail, unreliable,
and sieging with you got quite a bit lame.
Still I know I'm not justifiable!

Though Conrad took your place, I still like you:
Please, Flavius, don't forget my old haiku!

"Meet Belisarius
We have been friends for Ages
No walls between us"

AGE X

Welcome to the Age-X tall
It takes some time to show you around
Impossible to break these walls
For you see they are as black as coal
Golden tops to fend off attackers
Extra towers to turtle your keep

Possibly you've maxed out too much
Maybe it's time for a break as such

Absolutely no new inventory
Continuous red logs, I'm getting sick
ConRamination is the story
Even yellow-Beli'ed, cut me some slack
The defensive-buff in Age-X
Two words combined that can't make sense

Possibly you've maxed out too much
Maybe it's time for a break as such

P.S. Couldn't find a better video... Sigh, smartphones. [sleep]

 Some more twisted nursery Rhymes

Its bitsy belisarius

The itsy bitsy belisarius went under the wall ‘kerplout’.
Down came the wall, and Belisarius, he jumped out.
In ran Edward, and quickly dismantled the keep,
and itsy bitsy Belisarius, rested 5 hours before action again.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Conrad and joan

Conrad and Joan went up the hill
To fetch a bucketload of crowns.
Conrads rams came round and took the keep down,
And Joan converted all the troops after.
